it's worse than our deepest, initial fears.

the news is awash with reports of layoffs after layoffs. last time i checked, US' jobless rate is nearly akin to the entire spore population!

disconcerting report after report of the bleakness and gloom. it's blow after blow after debilitating blow. like a persistent rain that refuses to clear its clouds. like a unrelenting, wailing baby that refuses to shut its mouth.

a sobering time, for sure.

where is the demand!! the inventory orders!! gone. exports? plummeting. stimulus packages? flailing around.

recession. it bites. deep.


a man's greed is his own folly. but an entire community of unrestrained greed (think Wall Street) becomes a global calamity.

and that's just one way of trying to make sense of this complex affliction that is taking over the world.


my heart goes out to this yr's graduates.

day was defined by steamboat, mahjong, mamma mia (whose noise competed with our raucous talks and laughter, and the noise from mahjong) and a surprise at the end. :D

oh, and admiration of sk's crisp, new (relatively) abode too.

not to mention angbaos from his parents :D

events came with a familiar ring, as the same stuff happened last yr (yes the surprise too), except last yr it was at his old serangoon residence.

it feels just like tradition :)
